Socialpunk By Monica Leonelle Release Date: 03/27/12 Book Description from Amazon: Ima would give anything to escape The Dome and learn what’s beyond its barriers, but the Chicago government has kept all its citizens on lockdown ever since the Scorched Years left most of the world a desert wasteland. When a mysterious group of hooded figures enters the city unexpectedly, Ima uncovers a plot to destroy The Dome and is given the choice between escaping to a new, dangerous city or staying behind and fighting a battle she can never win. ***** EXCERPT ****** After playing God for six years with the world he created, he couldn’t control any of his subjects, none at all. Over the years, he had watched them evolve and become the sum of their own choices rather than the sum of his; and for that, he regretted ever giving them life. A small, blinking red light from just inside his eyelid reminded him of the news they sent him earlier that morning. The company had cancelled his funding and would shut down his project within three months. According to them, the project cost too much and took up too much space, and the inconclusive results couldn’t be published reputably, now or in the future. Six years of his work, tens of thousands of lives at stake—and he could do nothing to save any of it. […]

We want to know 🙂 Just Finished Reading: ReVamped By Ada Adams -“I’ve had many of my ‘firsts’ here.” I said proudly. Sebastian glanced over at me. “Like, your first kiss?” he teased playfully, a small smile spreading over his lips. “No!” I cried, mortified. I wasn’t about to share that, despite being nineteen years old, I had not yet reached that particular milestone. “No, like my first swordfight,” I clarified. “I should’ve figured,” he said, his smile growing wider. Suddenly, he seized my hands. “How about another first?” he asked, pulling me into him.

I have MANY fairy tale characters that I love! Being a Disney-obsessed freak doesn’t help. If you’ve read my bio on my blog, it should come as no surprise that my favorite fairy tale character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Tinker Bell comes a VERY, and I do mean very close second. I had my room decorated Tinker Bell style when I was in my early twenties. But, Belle’s passion with books and reading is what gives her a slight advantage. I love that she totally gets absorbed into whatever book she is reading and she forgets about the world around her. When she is reading, it’s just her, the story and the characters. And, I don’t know about you guys, but if someone gave me a fully stocked library like the one in the Beast’s castle, I would totally fall in love with them too! GIVEAWAY TIME! I will be giving away one fairy tale themed book to one lucky winner. Winner will choose from the following books: Cinder By Marissa Meyer Hardcover/e-book 400 pages Book Description from Amazon: Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . . Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. […]
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. Here are my picks for this week: A Midsummer’s Nightmare By Kodi Keplinger Release Date: 06/05/12 Hardcover/e-book 304 pages Book Description from Amazon: Whitley Johnson’s dream summer with her divorce dad has turned into a nightmare. She’s just met his new fiancee and her kids. The fiancee’s son? Whitley’s one-night stand from graduation night. Just freakin’ great. Worse, she totally doesn’t fit in with her dad’s perfect new country-club family. So Whitley acts out. She parties. Hard. So hard she doesn’t even notice the good things right under her nose: a sweet little future stepsister who is just about the only person she’s ever liked, a best friend (even though Whitley swears she doesn’t “do” friends), and a smoking-hot guy who isn’t her stepbrother…at least, not yet. It will take all three of them to help Whitley get through her anger and begin to put the pieces of her family together. Filled with authenticity and raw emotion, Whitley is Kody Keplinger’s most compelling character to date: a cynical Holden Caulfield-esque girl you will wholly care about. My Life Next Door By Huntley Fitzpatrick Release Date: 06/14/12 Hardcover/e-book 304 pages Book Description from A gorgeous debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you […]

And one girl will search for the key to save humanity. Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die…or become one of the monsters. Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad. Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for. ***ARC provided by Harlequin Teen for Review*** […]

This Is Not a Test By Courtney Summers Release Date: 06/19/12 Hardcover/e-book 336 pages Favorite quote: -The thing no one tells you about surviving, about the mere act of holding out, is how many hours are nothing because nothing happens. They also don’t tell you about how you can share your deepest secrets with someone, kiss them, and the next hour it’s like there’s nothing between you because not everything can mean something all the time or you’d be crushed under the weight of it. They don’t tell you how you will float through days. You autopilot, here but not really here, sleepwalking, and then every so often you are awake. Embrace By Cherie Colyer Release Date: 12/20/11 Paperback/e-book 220 pages Favorite quote: -The maze was a lot like my life: a series of paths that led to choices, turns that often led me astray, and dead ends that forced me to rethink where I’d just been.
