I have very conflicted feelings about Made You Up. I loved most of it, the writing was beautiful and the characters and the story were so unique. But one particular plot of the book and the really long length made this book drag out for me, which unfortunately took away some of my enjoyment from the book. For anyone else who doesn’t mind reading longer books, this probably wouldn’t be an issue with most of you. But for someone like me, who reads slow and hates books longer than 370 pages, this book seemed eternal sometimes. Alex has schizophrenia and has a hard time telling the difference between what is real and what is fake. The snake that she always sees at school that nobody else seems to freak out over? Probably fake. The Nazis who are out to get her? Yeah, probably fake too. The little boy who helped her free the lobsters years ago? Maybe fake??? As a result, Alex carries around a camera with her everywhere and takes pictures of everything, so she could figure out later when she’s looking through her pictures what was real or not. She’s never forgotten about that little boy though and doesn’t know if she could trust her memory or imagination when she meets Miles, who she swears is the same little boy. Having to start out in a new school because of […]

I know this book was a little bit too weird for some people, but I was odly fascinated by it. What made this even better for me was how amazing the audio performance was for this one. This kind of book is not my usual read, and I was a little bit scared off by the reviews at first. But once I found out that Michael Crouch was narrating this one, I knew I had to listen to it! Listening to the book felt a bit like hearing a movie and I ended up breezing through this one in a few hours. Magonia was such a unique story, and I’m not exactly sure what it is yet. It felt a bit like sci-fi and a bit of everything else. Aza has always struggled just to even breathe on Earth. With a mysterious lung disease that makes it hard to breath and speak, she’s always felt like she doesn’t belong. Even if her family and her best friend Jason do everything to make her feel like she does. Jason, who has feelings for Aza (it’s mutual), is the only one who believes Aza when she tells him about the ships she sees in the skies. But right as they both decide to finally make their move, Aza is taken to Magonia where she is told is where she belongs. Everyone believes Aza […]
*** I saw this gorgeous cover a few months ago, but didn’t actually read the summary until a few days ago. How awesome does this sound? A stand-alone YA Western? The summary had me at the word ‘gang.’ I’ve had this ring on my Polyvore drafts for months and was excited to finally find a book I would use it with. With a simple sunflower dress and skull necklace, your ‘Vengeance’ look is complete! Is this book on your TBR? *** I don’t blame you if you don’t see what I see when it comes to this one, it’s pretty vague. But I still liked it. I saw this dress on Polyvore a few weeks ago, and it reminded me of a book cover, but I wasn’t sure which one. I saved it because I knew there was a cover I could use for it, and I actually had to go through my Goodreads TBR until I finally found the book it reminded me of. For some reason, the designs on the hem of the dress, reminded me of buildings. Which reminded me of the building on this cover, kind of. I love books like this and I’m really excited about Between the Notes. Is this on your TBR? *** Isn’t this cover gorgeous? I really liked Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy and I’m looking forward to this one too. I liked the feathery dress and added the crow ring and wing earrings that remind me of the wing on the cover. I also wanted to add a small touch of red like the cover, so that went to the heels. This would be so cool to wear to a book event. A fancy book event maybe, but still. I would at least wear the earrings. 🙂 Are you excited for this book too? *** I’m not usually a fan of cartoony looking covers, but I do love the wheel of this one, and the message of it. There was something about this dress that caught my eye, I’m pretty sure that almost all the colors on the cover are on the dress. I read Bloom’s debut novel a few years ago and liked it, I’m looking forward to this one! Is this one on your TBR??? *** This seemed like it had a Valentines feel to it with the hearts and all the red. Of course, the book sounds so damn sad and while I normally stay away from books like thi, I’m DYING to read this one! It sounds sooooo good! I love how simple this cover is, with the human hearts turning into heart shapes. But, I love the black heart which is what I focused on. Have you read this book yet? Is it on your TBR? *** There are times were I put one of these features together and wonder if you all see the same things I do, or if I’m just crazy. But this skirt right here looks like it was made specifically for this cover! Look at the colors and all the shimmering-ness! It’s it pretty? A gorgeous skirt for a gorgeous book cover. *** This is a series I am so intimidated to read, no matter how many gushing reviews I read on these books. Or should I say that it’s because of all those glowing reviews that I’m scared to read this. But, I have thee on my TBR and my audiobook wishlist. I even have a copy of the first book, I just need to finally read it. I follow this author on Tumblr and I’m blown away by how incredibly talented she is, especially in her art. I think this cover is so pretty and I love the shades of green. This skirt reminded me of the cover 🙂 Have you read these books yet? *** I don’t know if it’s the fashion nerd in me or if I’m just crazy, but I totally can see that waterfall as a skirt. It looks pretty damn close to the watercolor cascading skirt I found, in an abstract kind of way… Anyway, this book sounds awesome. It’s one of the books I am most excited for this year, and it comes out on my birthday! Is this one on your TBR? *** Ugh, this book! You all know how much I love books about killers. This was my WOW pick a few months ago, as soon as I heard about it. And it’s my most anticipated book of 2015! I’ve been wanting to create a Book Look for this since I saw the cover, but I could never find something that I lied. Either the stars were a different shape or it just didn’t look right. Out of over 100 Book Look/Where I See Fashion features that I’ve put together, I probably struggled the most with this one. I finally found these earrings and necklace yesterday that reminded me so much of the stars on the cover. Not only because they are almost the same shape, but because the star is blacked out on the inside, kind of like the cover. I wanted to keep the rest of the look simple so it wouldn’t loo too busy. Like the cover, I wanted the focus to be on the stars. Is this book in your TBR? Are you one of the lucky people that has already read it??? *** I read Alienated last year and thought it was such a fun book! I grabbed this free novella and I plan on reading this before Invaded is released. I love book covers with skies, stars, galaxies on them, they are so freaking beautiful. I saw this dress and it’s like it was made specifically for this book cover! *** I’m really loving these watercolor covers right now. Amy Harmon is an author that I have heard nothing but good things about. More like amazing things. This book and Making Faces are high on my TBR. Available from: Follow Me:
*** Ahhh, this cover is so bad ass! Just look at all those skulls! I saw this ring on Pinterest and the skulls around the ring reminded me of all those skulls around the throne chairs. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this author and I recently bought the first audiobook in the series. Chaos is available at: Follow on Bloglovin’
Thanks to Penguin Teen and Razorbill, I have character profiles and a giveaway to share with you today from the sci-fi/fantasy book Zodiac! And, because I’m a fashion nerd, I also have a ‘Where I See Fashion’ feature. Enjoy! *** Character Profiles: Name: Rho Grace Age: 16, but I’ll be 17 in a week. Background: I’m a Cancrian student studying at the Acolyte Academy on House Cancer’s largest moon, Elara. Aspirations: Soon my friends and I will find out if we’ve been accepted to the prestigious Zodai University that shares our moon base. The Zodai are the peacekeepers of our galaxy, and they protect our planets by reading the stars and preparing us for what’s coming. Only the best Seers in the Zodiac can join their ranks—and the fact that the Academy is making me re-take my final probably isn’t a great sign for me…. Distinctive features/personality traits: Like all Cancrians, I have curly hair, and my eyes reflect the Cancer Sea. Cancrian irises can range from the softest of sea greens, like mine, to the deepest of indigo blues, like Lodestar Mathias Thais’s. House Cancer represents Nurture, so we Cancrians are naturally warm and compassionate people. And though we aspire to be loyal and selfless and brave, we’re equally prone to spells of self-absorption and moodiness. Name: Ophiuchus Age: Immortal Background: I was born the brightest star in the Thirteenth constellation. When the first humans arrived to the […]
*** I recently heard the audio for Talon and really enjoyed it. I really loved both of these covers. They are so simple, but very eye-catching and beautiful. This dress reminded me of the scales on the cover. You can’t really see the design up close, so I’m adding a close-up below. Are you a Kagawa fan? Are you looking forward to this book too? My review of Talon!
*** I am such a huge fan of anything that Colleen Hoover writes. I know I’ll be in a world of hurt when I read her books and it’ll be so worth it! I’m so excited for this one and I need it to be March 2015 already. I’m loving all these watercolor covers and this dress reminded me of this cover. Is this book on your TBR? Are you a Hoover fan?
*** I’m not usually a fan of butterflies on covers (or butterflies in general), but this cover is oh-so freaking gorgeous! I immediately thought of this cover when I saw this dress. I’ve never read anything by Rachel Vincent but I do hava few of her books and I have this one on my TBR. It sounds awesome!
