About Nereyda

I’m a 29 year old mother of two girls (8 and 5 years old) who loves books, fashion and good music.  I started my book blog in December 2011 after months of silently stalking other book blogs.  I have an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design and worked in the Product Development field for a women’s apparel catalog for over 5 years.  I love to find new ways of combining my love of books and fashion and even started my own fashion/lifestyle blog last year.

I love to read pretty much anything, although I struggle with Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Dystopias.  My favorite genre is contemporary and although I mostly read YA, I also enjoy Adult Romances and New Adult books.  I also have a soft spot for books about killers and the mob (think General Hospital).  I’m kind of obsessed with audiobooks and I’m always on the lookout for new and great narrators and hope on converting more people to listening to audiobooks.

Random Facts:
-My favorite color is black, but I usually tell people my favorite color is pink because black sounds so morbid and emo.
-I’m not a big TV watcher, but I am a once-in-a-while Netflix binger.  This is how I went from watching one show, to watching 5 shows at the moment.  Arrow, The Flash, Once Upon a Time, The 100 and New Girl.  If you’re a fan of any of these, feel free to chat me up!
-I can usually be found with headphones on, either listening to music, listening to an audiobook, or watching something on Netflix (although I try to stay away from the last one because I have two modes: binge or not use it at all.
-Good music makes me happy.  Some of my favorites are The Civil Wars, Pink, (old school) Rihanna, The Pretty Reckless, Evanescence, Flyleaf, (older) Beyonce, System of a Down, Eminem, Pentatonix and I can always listen to some Backstreet Boys.
-I was lucky enough to be able to go see Pink (AMAZING!), Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless and Rihanna in concert.  I am super pissed that The Civil Wars broke up before I could see them live 🙁
-I like rap songs, dirty rap songs for some reason.
-I am extremely picky about food.  Like super picky.  I’ve ordered off the kids menu several times because of this.
-I’m kind of obsessed with pretty notebooks, pens, and planners.
-I love to re-read my favorite books.  I’ve re-read some books more than 7 times.
-I cringe when a book is over or close to 400 pages and will put off reading it, or go look for the audio.
-My favoritest series EVER is the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead and you should all read it!
-I have over 700 physical books in my ‘library room’ (it’s really just my loft with a reading couch, a desk for my computer and four 6-shelf bookcases.  I’ve had to give soooo many books away to book friends, to my niece, for giveaways or to my library before I got my house because I just didn’t have space for them.
-I have over 200 audiobooks in my library (my phone).
-I could live off of cereal, spaghetti and beans every day for the rest of my life.
-The sugary cereals are the best and nothing beats the bottom of the cereal boxes (those yummy crumbs).
-My dream job when I was little was to be one of those people that invents names for Crayola crayons.  Hell, I would still love to do that!
-My current dream job would be a stylist.
-I’m not a big lovey-dovey person and prefer kick-ass and comedies over romance movies/tv shows any day.
-I am Disney obsessed!  I’ve been going to Disneyland or Disney World AT LEAST once a year since I was little.  I spent my 13th anniversary there last year and it was the best.
-If I were to see Ryan Gosling at Disneyland, I would die happy.
-I can’t stand lotion!  Not the smell or the feel of it and never year it.  I hated having to put some on my kids when they were babies and always made someone else do it.
-Ditto on perfumes.
-I’m a huge chicken.  I don’t watch scary movies, I don’t get on roller coasters and I refuse to go downstairs in my house at night.
-I didn’t learn how to drive until 3 years ago (I’m 29) when I got my new house and had to drive on my own to work (one hour away). Every day was an almost panic attack for the first few months, but now I love it.

About Nick

I started reading at a young age and my love for books has only grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years. I was the kid (still am) who read under the covers after my parents had gone to bed or would read during recess at school. It wasn’t always fun growing up with friends who weren’t as passionate about books as I was, so when I discovered Goodreads in mid 2009 after loving the Twilight series and scourging the internet for more recommendations, it was like a dream come true. I finally had a place to be myself and bonus, I was able to meet people exactly like I was! Soon after, I discovered the genius that was book blogs. I relentlessly stalked many of my favorite book blogs for book recommendations. In December 2011, I decided that even though my writing is not the best, I wanted a nook on the internet for me to share all about books and thus, Nick’s Book Blog was born. Just recently, I decided together with Nereyda to move blogging homes to Nick and Nereyda’s Infinite Booklist.

Before I discovered YA books, I was passionate about crime thrillers and murder mysteries. I devoured books by Agatha Christie, James Patterson, Tess Gerritsen and Patricia Cornwell. My reading interests significantly changed when I read the Twilight series and became obsessed with it. Now, for the most part, I read YA although sometimes I do revisit the world of crime thrillers. I read many different genres such as dystopia, science fiction, contemporary, historical and mystery books, whether it be YA or NA or adult. My only requirement for every book I read is romance. I’m a romance reader at heart and I love all the swoons that a well-written romance can give me.
When I’m not reading or blogging, I’m a student. I just recently graduated from college with my Bachelor of Science and I’m currently in the process of deciding what to do with my life. I hope to someday work for the WHO. I can also frequently be found on Netflix binge-watching TV shows. Some of my current favorite TV shows are The Good Wife, Jane the Virgin, How to Get Away With Murder, Arrow, Bones, Supernatural and Friends (ALWAYS Friends).

    Hello there!

First of all, I’d like to thank you so very much for blogging and supporting PRINCESS OF THORNS. It’s a book that means so much to me and I’m thrilled to pieces that so many people seem to be enjoying it. So thank you, thank you, many many times thank you.

Unfortunately, not so many people are buying the book (or my last book) and so my career as a New York published author is coming to an end. I would love to continue to write Young Adult stories for the readers who seem to enjoy them, however, so I’m launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to fund a PRINCESS OF THORNS sequel. You can read all about it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/481551832/princess-of-thorns-sequel

You’ll see the amount I’m hoping to raise is 10,500.00. After a funding fee of 5% and editing, copy-editing, proofing, cover design, printing, and shipping expenses, that will leave me with about 6,000.00 to 7,000.00 in profit to keep my mortgage paid during the three months it will take to write and edit the book. If I can find 1000 people willing to donate at the ten dollar level we’ll reach our goal. More than that number of people have read and enjoyed PRINCESS OF THORNS, so if I can get help getting the word out, this project might be a success!

I hope you’ll think about supporting the venture and about sharing the news of the Kickstarter campaign with your friends, blog readers, and anyone else you think would be interested. If the project doesn’t reach its goal, there will be no charge to anyone who has pledged to donate, so this is truly a risk-free venture for everyone.

And if the project doesn’t fund, I’ll retire from writing new stories and be able to concentrate on re-publishing my backlist digitally without feeling I’ve let anyone down or given less than my best effort to make the readers who have supported me during the past six years happy.

Thank you so much for your support and for the opportunity to tell you stories.

    All best,

    Stacey Jay
