Nereyda’s Monthly Favorites (August)

I love putting these posts together but life has been so crazy lately that I always remember late into the month. I know we’re almost mid-September (crazy right!?) but I had some favorites I wanted to share anyway. I’ve been really into skin care lately, not sure if it’s because I’m 31 now or what but I’ve found some products that I’ve been loving as well as more things to fuel my bullet journal addiction.

My Monthly Favorites:

My new journal! Guys, you don’t even understand how long I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this silver Leuchtturm journal. It was announced in the beginning of January this year but it wasn’t released in the US until July. I have been drooling over this journal for months since silver (well gray technically) is my second favorite color (besides black). I love it, it’s sleek and the color just makes me love it more. I started bullet journaling in September of 2016 and this will be my 3rd journal. I also got this custom decal from KM Vinyl, an Etsy shop, and I love having my journal personalized.

I hated putting my journal in my purse because the edges would get messed up and it would get gross and dirty with all the stuff my kids throw in my purse. I’ve been on the lookout for a cover to carry my journal and loved this one from ChooseToDo. I love it because I can put my journal in it as well as a separate journal since it has slots for two journals. They sent me this cute notebook with my order and I like it for notes. Now I can throw my journal in my purse or backpack and not have to worry about it getting messed up.

I don’t draw in my journal because I don’t have the time and I’m just not that good at it. I still like it to look pretty but I like using these sticker books to pretty up my pages. The Me And My Big Ideas sticker books have cute themes, quotes and labels. They are pricey though, $20 at Michaels, but I only get them at Michaels when I have a %50-60 off coupon. I have a few of these books and I love using them.

I haaaaate lotion, I didn’t even start wearing lotion until about 2 years ago and even now I’m still really picky about them. I hate the greasy and sticky feeling some lotions have but I do want them to actually make my face feel moisturized and I want my makeup to go well with it and my skin to look nice on its own if I skip the makeup. I picked this one up based on the reviews and I really like it. It does everything I want it to, I wear it at morning, after my shower and before going to bed and my face doesn’t feel so dry anymore. The only downside is the smell, it has a…weird smell to it. Not strong or off-puting and it fades as soon as you put it on but I do wish it smelled a bit nicer.

I’ve really been trying to detox my skin since I took such bad care of it the last 15-some years (I never used to wash my face at night or wear lotion on my face). I’m lucky that other than a blemish here and there and under eye circles, my skin is pretty good. But I am 31 and I need to make sure I take care of it from now on. My cousin loved this clay mask from Loreal so I tried it. It’s about $10, which is a good price for a face mask and I really love how refreshed and clean my skin feels after I use it. I aim to do a face mask three times a week and this one just feels so nice on my skin. There are different kinds of face masks depending on your skin type.

I’ve been a big fan of It Cosmetics for the past two years, they have such nice products that really focus on your skin. I love their Brow Power pencil, their CC cream, Bye Bye Under Eye and Celebration Foundation Powder to name a few. I don’t normally get blemishes but every once in a while I will get one on my forehead and I’m just not that gifted enough to cover it up with concealer alone. When the Bye Bye Breakout was recently released, I knew I wanted to try it. I’ve only tried it on a few blemishes and I can’t really say yet if the product made the blemishes go away or if they went away on their own, but I was able to nicely cover them up with this product. I also have a lot of redness on my skin, it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even bother using any foundation or concealer because it just looks weird (kind of makes my chin have a purplish look), but this product really conceals my redness on my chin without craking or looking cakey. For that alone I love it.

What were some of your monthly favorites? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
