I Fell For A Hero With A Mustache: Arcadia Bell Series by Jenn Bennett

Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) Binding the Shadows (Arcadia Bell, #3) Banishing the Dark (Arcadia Bell, #4)

It’s official! I have a new favorite author and her name is Jenn Bennett. I’ve read everything that this author has written and I’m in awe of just how talented she is regardless of the genres she tackles. I spent two glorious weeks binge-reading the Arcadia Bell series, and honestly, they were the highlights of those two weeks for me. There’s lots I want to say about these books, but here are some quick reasons why you need to pick up this series if you haven’t yet.

A Fierce & Fabulous Heroine

Man, I loved Cady so much. She’s funny, clever and just delightful as a character. The books are told in her POV and I loved being inside her head – there was never a dull moment with her. Throughout these four books, she goes through an incredible, often times brutal journey, and she manages to remain true to herself – fiercely loyal and just an outright kind woman. I loved how far Cady was willing to go to protect her loved ones, and how she was a character that thought before she made any sort of decision. What made her even more interesting were her complicated history and her powers (they were so cool!) that continued to grow throughout the books. Cady has got to be one of my favorite heroines of all-time.

A Sexy & Mature Partner

I have to be honest. One of the main reasons I was hesitant about reading this series was because I had heard about Lon’s mustache – yes, I can be very dramatic about the silliest things. And gahh! I was just so DUMB! But better late than never. Lon was just majestic and I fell thoroughly and hopelessly in love with this sexy man. Just the thought of him makes me feel a little lighthearted. He was a little older than Cady, and his maturity suited her. He was very no-nonsense, and had that broody thing going on for him that made him so irresistible. Then, we get to see him open up to Cady in brief moments, and I was basically a goner. I just want all my romance heroes to be as thoughtful, mature and sexy as Lon. Is that too much to ask?

A Scene-Stealer of a Secondary Character

This series has some terrific secondary characters. Even the villains were fleshed-out brilliantly, but for me, my favorite, was without a doubt, Jupe, Lon’s teenage son. He was just a big ball of energy and he was entirely too loveable for words. He becomes very attached to Cady in the series, and their bond warmed my heart. The pureness of their love for each other got me all teary-eyed at times. I love it when an author can basically punch me in the feels with a secondary character. We also get to see his point of view in the last book, which was a very pleasant surprise. I love this goofball and I have no doubt everyone else will too.

A Couple That Sticks Together

Yes! You heard that right! Cady and Lon were a couple that were a team through and through. There were no dumb separations or misunderstandings and I just loved that so so much. The chemistry between the two was potent from the start, but it was their deep emotional bond that had me glued to the pages. I just couldn’t get enough of them! I loved how they were open and honest with each other and they were just there for each other no matter how dangerous the situation was. Cady & Lon are the true definition of the perfect OTP for me.

Plots That Are Never Dull

All of the books have terrific world building and engaging plot lines. One reason I sped through these books was because of how immersed I was in Jenn Bennett’s world of demons and powers. It was fascinating and made for a very exciting read. I especially love how some plot lines built up over the course of the series to finally culminate in the finale. This is one series with plenty of action and twists and turns.

So yeah. Read it. Love it. But don’t you freaking dare steal Lon from me. He is mine
