From NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton, known for her “deliciously addictive” (The Book Vixen) novels, this Cocktail series novella reunites readers with Caroline and Simon from the wildly successful Wallbanger.
Simon and Caroline are back for another round of baking, banging, and big life changes. Settling in, but never settling down, Caroline has finally struck a balance between the professional and the personal. As one of the top interior designers in San Francisco, she travels all over Northern California between nook time with Simon.
Perpetual globetrotter Simon has cut his frequent flyer miles in half over the last year, preferring to balance his professional and personal life, as well.
The next step in their lives seems preordained—toasts, veils, and the aisle of rose petals. But when an accident on a photo shoot in Southeast Asia brings Caroline the most terrifying phone call she could ever imagine, she has to ask whether “till death do us part” is a more realistic prospect than faces most couples.
It’s been a grand adventure, and Caroline and Simon wouldn’t go out without the best surprise ending ever. One part sexy, one part laughter, a dash of exotic locales, and one pink nightie, mixed with passion, and you’ve got Last Call. Served with a side of Clive.

Ahhh, Simon and Caroline have come such a long way from his Wallbanging days! I’ve read and loved every book in the series (even if Caroline got on my nerves in Rusty Nailed). Simon and Caroline are at a great place in their lives right now. They both have great jobs, a nice house, great friends, and a house full of crazy cats. And the good sex life doesn’t hurt either. But with all of their friends wither getting married or getting pregnant or having babies, Simon and Caroline start to feel pressure to take that next step:marriage.
I was a little bit worried because Caroline had that little freak out in Rusty Nailed when her relationship with Simon moved on to a more serious stage, and I was not looking forward to a repeat of that. I did love the way this all played out. I missed the rest of the gang that I got to know and love from the previous books in the series and it was great to see so much of them in this book. Like most friends that love to give each other a hard time, they all keep asking Simon and Caroline when they’re getting married and start popping out kids of their own. I loved how they didn’t cave to the pressure or let it get between them, and instead handled it in their own special Wallbanger way. 🙂
Last Call had everything I’ve come to expect and love from an Alice Clayton book: it made me laugh, it made me blush and it made me fall more in love with these characters! I’m not 100% sure if this is the last book in the Cocktail series, or just the last book for Simon and Caroline, but it had such a fitting and perfect ending for them. I’ve been such a fan of this series and I can’t wait to see what Alice Clayton has for us next! If you like fun and sexy adult books, you have to give these books a try!
Audiobook Comments: Heather Smith has narrated every book in the Cocktail series, and I can see why they kept her as the narrator for all the books. She does such a great job at the inner monologue lines that these books have and delivers her lines flawlessly. Other than Wallbanger, I’ve heard the rest of this series on audio and these are the kind that I would go back and re-listen when I’m in the mood for something funny and sexy.
Listen to an excerpt of Last Call:
Some of my favorite non-spoiler quotes from Last Call:
– “I loved sweet and slow Wallbanger, but I loved Wallbanger Wallbanger the best!”
– I scrambled backward on the bed, moving toward the headboard.
“Where you going, sweet Caroline?” he asked, crawling across the bed to get to me.
“I wanted to hold on for this,” I quipped, arching an eyebrow and my back as I grabbed on to the iron headboard.
“That’s my girl.”
– Funny thing about getting proposed to in a shower. You can’t tell which is water and which is tears. I said yes, and then he kissed me. I said yes, and then he touched me. I said yes, and then he slipped inside me. I said yes, yes, yes, and then he loved me.
– “Look how fantastic this ring looks on my hand while it’s holding your cock.”
“Jesus Christ, woman.”
– “You realize you own me, don’t you, Nightie Girl?”
