on the edgeOn the Edge
by Allison van Diepen
Release Date: 11/25/14
Harper Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
From Allison van Diepen, author of Snitch and Street Pharm, comes a sexy, dangerous novel about a teen who witnesses a murder and gets caught up in the seedy world of Miami’s gangs.

Maddie Diaz never should have taken that shortcut through the park. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have seen two members of the Reyes gang attacking a homeless man. Now, as the only witness, she knows there’s a target on her back.

But when the Reyes jump her on the street, Maddie is protected by a second gang and their secretive leader, Lobo, who is determined to take down the Reyes himself. Lobo is mysterious and passionate, and Maddie begins to fall for him. But when they live this close to the edge, can their love survive?

On the Edge is a compelling story about fighting for what’s right and figuring out where you belong. The novel showcases a gritty, realistic voice and earth–shattering romance that will intrigue readers of Simone Elkeles and Paul Griffin and captivate fans of Allison van Diepen’s other novels.

the aftermathThe Aftermath
by Jen Alexander
Release Date: 08/26/14
Harlequin Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
Sometimes, I dream that I’m someone else.

A girl with dark hair who doesn’t worry about hunger

or thirst or running from flesh-eaters.

In her world, those sorts of things don’t exist.

Since the spring of 2036, when the world changed forever, Claudia and a small clan of survivors have roamed the streets of a very altered Nashville: polluted and desolate, except for the ever-present threat of cannibal Hoarders. Together they must undergo punishing tests of endurance and psychological challenge sometimes with devastating consequences all just to live another day.

With food and water in dwindling supply, and with danger lurking around every corner, no one can be trusted. And as her world starts to make less and less sense, Claudia begins to realize something terrifying: she is just a pawn in some sort of game, and all of her actions are being controlled from afar by a mysterious gamer. So when she meets a maddening and fascinating outsider named Declan, who claims to be a game moderator, she must decide whether to join him in exchange for protection and access to the border.

If they play the game right, they are each other’s best hope for survival and a life beyond the only world Claudia’s ever known: the terrifying live-action game known as The Aftermath.

The first one reminds me of Simone Elkeles and Katie McGarry who I both love!  The second one sounds really good too and I love the cover.

  1. I saw On the Edge on GR the other day and I was going to tweet the link at you but I completely forgot! I’m glad you found it though and doesn’t it sound all kinds of perfect? I can’t wait for it!
The Aftermath sounds great too but I’m sort of over dystopians. I’ll wait for your review first. 🙂

  3. I haven’t heard of either of these! I guess that isn’t too surprising because they are contemporary? I hope you enjoy them! I really like Katie McGarry so that comparison is intriguing 😀

Thanks for visiting my blog, Nereyda! Have a fantastic week!
