by James Dawson
Release Date: 06/05/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Rowe is not the kind of person who believes in ghosts. A Halloween dare at her ridiculously spooky boarding school is no big deal, especially when her best friend Naya and cute local boy Caine agree to join in too. They are ordered to summon the legendary ghost of ‘Bloody Mary’: say her name five times in front of a candlelit mirror, and she shall appear… But, surprise surprise, nothing happens. Or does it?

Next morning, Bobbie finds a message on her bathroom mirror… five days… but what does it mean? And who left it there? Things get increasingly weird and more terrifying for Bobbie and Naya, until it becomes all too clear that Bloody Mary was indeed called from the afterlife that night, and she is definitely not a friendly ghost. Bobbie, Naya and Caine are now in a race against time before their five days are up and Mary comes for them, as she has come for countless others before… A truly spine-chilling yet witty horror from shortlisted ‘Queen of Teen’ author James Dawson.

Release Date: 08/05/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Edie Kramer has a score to settle with the beautiful people at Blackbriar Academy. Their cruelty drove her to the brink of despair, and four months ago, she couldn’t imagine being strong enough to face her senior year. But thanks to a Faustian compact with the enigmatic Kian, she has the power to make the bullies pay. She’s not supposed to think about Kian once the deal is done, but devastating pain burns behind his unearthly beauty, and he’s impossible to forget.

In one short summer, her entire life changes, and she sweeps through Blackbriar, prepped to take the beautiful people down from the inside. A whisper here, a look there, and suddenly… bad things are happening. It’s a heady rush, seeing her tormentors get what they deserve, but things that seem too good to be true usually are, and soon, the pranks and payback turns from delicious to deadly. Edie is alone in a world teeming with secrets and fiends lurking in the shadows. In this murky morass of devil’s bargains, she isn’t sure who—or what–she can trust. Not even her own mind…

I have this weird fascination with books with blood on the covers. (Are you surprised?)  These covers, and those summaries freak me the hell out but interest me too.  They both sound creepy and intense!  Especially the first one.  I’m Mexican so I grew up with Bloody Mary stories.  What are you waiting for this week?  Leave me a link to your WOW post 🙂

  1. I was so torn when I saw Say Her Name, because in one breath I thought the cover was STUNNING, but a little too creepy, and then I read the description and creepy aside, I want it! I think I’m getting more comfortable with horror and I’m excited to try this one; I’m going to keep a look out on NetGalley and Edelweiss for this one! Great picks hun! 🙂

  3. Huh. I’ve never heard of the first one! It sounds interesting, but maybe not something I’d read. I definitely cannot wait to read the second one you featured! I love Ann Aguirre’s books 😀 Hope you get to read these two soon, Nereyda!

    Thanks for visiting my blog!
